I think its safe to say that I like reading comic books more than watching them. Man of steel was good. They really nailed the whole "I am Superman" feel but I couldnt relate to the character on a human level. There were no real funny Clark Kent moments and the villian was just a huge dick bag. He just kind of roared and bellowed his lines with about as much enthusiasm as a scholl yard bully. And did I mention Superman gets his ass beat throughout the movie. I never really got that childhood feeling of wanting to root for Superman. Anyone that says they are comic book fans because they like seeing explosions, superpowers, and epic battles is in it for the wrong reasons. We look up to these guys because they are symbols of hope and inspiration. Good trumping evil. Not mindless, over the top violence thats meant to drown out the real spirit behind what makes a hero truly great and noteworthy. This is what is lacking in entertanment. The story, the fans, and the creators are robbed of a completely cohesive, immersive experience that could resonate within the entire populous all for the sake fulfilling what apprently seems to be our insatiable need to see shit blow up and make dick jokes.
