I think that I pulled both hamstrings this morning I can hardly walk. Was at the Vaal when the sun came up, to help try get this huge gelding through the starting stall. He just plants himself and 8 guys cant move him - just refuses. has had two starts but has decided this isnt for him. Well I did my normal work with the pressure halter and he did all that very well. I then went to the double stall and there was a bit of excitement, walking on hind legs and stuff but eventually through careful application of pressure and release I got him to walk in quietly. But that was where quiet stopped. When we were both ½ way in he decided to jump through the open front gate, he took off like he was racing, full gallop. I was left holding the end of the 12ft lead rope, two or three huge horse assisted rocket strides and I brought him to a stop, but in the process - I just felt fire across my chest and on both hamstrings. He stopped and came up to me licking his lips finally realising that I was all powerful and in control. Now was the perfect time to do it again. But a huge problem - I couldnt walk - lol. No medics about, no grooms to take the horse but luckily enough this horse is now dancing around me on a loose lead rope as I hobble back to the stables. Luckily its an office day so spent the rest of the day here at my desk.
