I think this is my first time actually taking the time to listen to Jeremy Lins full testimony from a few years ago. Its hard to imagine that just a few years ago, he was in the D-league and going through some personal struggles and even feeling depressed. It was during this period, his pastor then took time to disciple him and even challenged him to spent a hour in prayer everyday. Lin then goes onto say what he had learned. He quotes John Piper in Dont Waste Your Life: God created us to live with a single passion to joyfully display his supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. He then explains: When Paul wrote in Philippians to press on for an upward prize, he was living for that, and it made his life meaningful (Philippians 3:15). And I realized I had to learn to do the same. I had to learn to stop chasing the perishable prizes of this earth, I had to stop chasing personal glory, I had to learn how to give my best effort to God and trust him with the results. I have to learn to have enough faith to trust in his grace and to trust in his sovereign and perfect plan. Its as though God had prepared his heart for the stage He wanted to use him on. Little did he know, with all its burdens and opportunities, that stage would be Linsanity! To this day, Lin is one of those rare Christians in the public sphere, whose identity is in Christ, where fame hasnt gotten to this head, and still being a bold faithful honest humble growing witness.
