I truly hope that Sergio takes a couple of more fights and then retires on top because this man is truly a hard luck fighter out of the ring more so than in the ring. HBO, promoters, and sanctioning bodies alike practically screwed him over with the sanctioning bodies stripping Sergio of his title by not defending it against Zbik and taking a bigger fight on HBO in his second meeting with Paul William (if I am correct on that specific opponent), however, HBO later promotes the fight with Chavez Jr. vs Zbik. Are you kidding me? Sergio then has to battle with Chavez Jr. to get his title back that was wrongfully taken from him out of the ring only to win it back again from Chavez Jr. whom HBO manufactured and orchestrated the move in hopes that Chavez Jr. would be a bigger money maker over Sergio. Sergio is one of the few fighters in this sport (like Cotto) that earned his the hard way by simply fighting. Sergio has been out of the ring for awhile and needs a big name/former champion with an advantage over but will not be an easy win…enter Miguel Cotto. Cotto makes all these concessions to make the fight with Sergio Martinez, AND COTTO IS NOT EVEN THE CHAMPION. Wow, I’m a little pissed that Sergio still gets no recognition on big fights, but damn, Cotto is the man when it comes to negotiations. In short, Sergio Martinez is like the Rhodney Dangerfield of boxing when it comes to making big fights…he gets no respect.
