I urge all our organization members and families to consider the source of anything they see on the internet. Since anyone can put up a website, Facebook page, product sales page, etc. and basically say whatever they like, that does not mean it is accurate, or associated with the alliance of cleft/craniofacial advocates. This pertains to medical care, team referrals, ongoing research and clinical trials, public awareness, and much, much more. When you see that EVERYTHING our organization does is transparent, associated with leading research facilities, recognized by local, state and federal government and community entities, recognized and awarded by local businesses, national/international corporations, national public service entities, is an approved Certifying Organization for the Presidents Volunteer Service Award, and weve even been recognized by the United States Senate...well, enough said! If this sounds like a rant, I dont mean it to be at all! I simply want to make sure that each of you ask yourselves...what has your cleft/craniofacial group or organization done lately? And what have they done specifically for you lately? If the answer is not much or sent me a stream of messages pushing product sales of various kinds or I hear about an event once a year or whatever, please compare that to the all-volunteer effort of AmeriFace and its family of programs, including cleftAdvocate. With absolutely no paid staff - including myself - we are the largest, most active support organization for the cleft/craniofacial community. We cannot do this without YOU, our volunteers, from around the country and around the world! We also cannot do this without an unblemished reputation, transparency, fiscal responsibility, strong ethics and being all-inclusive, supporting all who come regardless of their circumstances. We are here to serve you! Thank you for your continued support of our patients and families, and thank you for fueling my desire to keep doing what weve been doing for so many years...Making a world of difference in a world of facial differences!
