I usually dont get hyped about Marvel movies. Im not invested in the source material, personally I find RDJ more compelling than Iron Man himself, and that goes for most of the other characters as well. Though to their credit, Marvel has done a commendable job juggling all the franchises and making this seem like a cohesive super-verse, and the films for the most part are never bad. Just often uneven or not entirely engaging. The Avengers has been the stand out, and is a truly entertaining and meticulously crafted movie that never ceases to impress. But I tend to lay that mostly upon the shoulders of the genius that is Joss Whedon. He just gets it, those characters came to be with the purpose of being woven into his narrative tapestries. But to get back on topic, Guardians of the Galaxy! Now I have no background with any of these characters, nor am I a huge fan of James Gunns work, but how fun does this look! Perhaps Im on a Chris Pratt high, after his awesome work in The Lego Movie and being the riot that is Andy on Parks & Rec. But Im loving seeing him in something big and epic, especially in what seems to be his most smug and dashing appearance yet. Now this could totally end up all over the place. But for the moment I have hope. And Im not gonna lie, this is the kind of Star Wars flick I want to see. I apologize to the purists, but Han was always cooler than Luke. And this looks like a Han spin-off film if Ive ever seen one. Heres to hoping they knock this one out of the park.
