I usually don’t post much except happy family moments and cute animal videos. Today however, I would just like to say, “AETNA SUCKS!” Early this Spring, a close family member had bypass heart surgery. Later on, when I went to the doctor for a routine checkup, he tested my cholesterol. To my surprise, my cholesterol reading was abnormally high. Aetna did not cover the cost of the cholesterol lab work because they said it was an unnecessary test. I appealed the decision, providing my abnormal results and family history of high cholesterol and they still denied the claim. I do not take any medications on a regular basis and very rarely use my insurance so why are they being so cheap with me? It sucks to know that when I do use my insurance, they will look for any excuse not pay. Insurance is supposed to make you feel secure, Aetna doesnt do that. Since finding out my cholesterol was high, I have made changes in my diet and life style to avoid ending up needing cardiac surgery down the road. Somehow, Aetna is more concerned with saving money today than what they will need to spend on surgery in the future.
