I want to take a moment away from Voter Awareness and talk about another sensitive topic that we should be more aware about in our community and our world. There were some threads this week where people either in jest or as an accusation threw around the topic of medication for mental illness. Just like using the R word, we need to start being more accepting and not look at mental illness as something to be joked about or something to be ashamed about. There should be no stigma attached to taking medication for a diagnosed and treatable mental illness. I am going to share the link today for the The Brandon Marshall Foundation.
