I wanted to buy a cricket bat for Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc) to autograph. I have called sporting stores to attempt to purchase one. This is how the conversation went: Me: Hello! I was wondering if you have any cricket bats in stock? Employee: Let me check! *Puts me on hold* No, we do not sell any crickets. Me: No! Not crickets. A cricket BAT. It is long and flat. Think of it like a flat baseball bat like thing. Employee: For your lawn? Me: What? Employee: For the crickets in your lawn. Me: No, for the sport. Employee: . . . Sport? For crickets in your lawn? Long story short, despite the websites saying sporting stores carry cricket bats, the guy at Sports Authority thinks my yard has an excessive amount of crickets in my yard and that I have created smashing them with a bat into a sport.
