I wanted to share this with my friends. Im in a discussion on a video about a guy arrested for reading his Bible in public. Thats the title anyway. Some of you arent Christians yet, and thats okay (but you need to fix that ASAP) youll still possibly enjoy the political flavor this offers. I took this position: You have rights sure, but all rights stem from property ownership. These guys think that the 1st amendment gives them the ability to speak anywhere and everywhere, but I disagree strongly. The Lord also wouldnt have us make a spectacle of ourselves. https://youtube/watch?v=8GMnPXeuC0o And they obviously weigh it against the political fallout that might result, and come to the logical conclusion that its better to quietly dismiss the charges and let it die. Its politics. But there is no amount of Gadsden flag waving hysteria you can throw at this that will magically transform property that is owned by the State of California (Or leased from the city / municipality theyre located in, however that works) into public property. Its private property. After a little bit of back n forth with someone calling themselves Liberty2014 and sporting a Gadsden flag which I reference later, I had this to say... Also your rights to anything end where my rights or someone elses rights begin. Those people in line can reasonably expect a right to privacy and not have someone shouting scripture at them while they wait in line to get their drivers license renewed. Its completely idiotic for many street preachers to conduct themselves the way they do, and they do it for their own self glory most of the time. God doesnt want His followers to be jerks. Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Love thy neighbour as thyself means you treat others the way you want to be treated. Do you like to be interrupted when youre doing something? Do you like to be cornered with nowhere to turn and no way to not hear someone yelling at you? Listen to the CHP officer, he says clearly that you cant have a captive audience. They were tromping all over the Gadsden flags of those people in line. John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. I appreciate and understand the zeal in these street preachers, but I cant say that they are winning any souls to the Lord in their approach. Jesus said I will make you fishers of men. How does a fisherman operate? By being quiet, listening, observing... not by splashing around in the water screaming get in my net! Believe me, Im all about the liberty brother. Check out my channel, I have a video on there that is a 6 - 7 hour class on the Constitution. Youll love it.
