I was asked, Why put together and execute a plan for the initiative Operation Noble Giving? My answer is there needs to be more support for peer organizations by organizations across the spectrum of veteran care and resources. As the Executive Director of a program focused on providing opportunities for warriors and their families we needed to broaden out vision. We needed to fully understand what the care and sort spectrum encompassed. We needed to follow the the knows: know what you know, know who knows what you need to know; thats all you need to know. We needed to find partners to fill the many gaps and provide the various modalities we didnt currently provide. Operation Noble Giving is the funding mechanism that need. There are several programs out there that need sort in order to carry out their mission and help us folk those gaps. Programs that provide mental health resources at the community level; programs that help those in need find quality, well-trained service and companion animals or help with finding gainful employment and training. They all need resources. Donors making a single donation to Operation Noble Giving are supporting the spectrum not necessarily their favorite modality. They may be dog people that find equine opportunities or divers that would benefit from a service animal when away from the water. And lets face it; we could all use a little mental health gut-check ever now and again. Im committed to fundraising until April 15th of 2015 for less than 25¢ on the dollar in support of Operation Noble Giving because I understand there needs to be a more comprehensive execution of support in order to improve veteran and family quality of life and to slow the tide of suicide that is plaguing warriors. Im committing my organization to the team fight by doing what we can to ensure there is a team in the fight. The infantry doesnt fight without armor, artillery, or aviation. It cant sustain without food, water, ammunition, or medical support. Operation Noble Giving is the first Combined Arms Team trying to prove a concept in the veteran support spectrum. Im asking for your help. If you read this and like it, I expect you to go to the event and put your $10 where you know it will do the most good. You will see several teams from all over the country doing the same thing; supporting veteran health and wellness. Pick a team and engage. Find two people that will duplicate your leadership. When I retired I lost my team and my mission. It nearly cost me my life. I now have a new team and a new mission. I will always have room on my team for one more, and my mission wont end. #veteranpeersupport #mission22 #OperationNobleGiving
