I was blessed to have spoken to Pete a few times back in the 90s when I did tables for the Albany Social Justice Center at the Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival. He was a warm, funny, self-effacing and impossibly gentle shanachie who gave everything of himself to the movement for social justice, and those who worked in it. Even when his voice started to go over the last 20 years, he was not deterred. He kept plucking at that banjo like it was a weapon for both musical joy and social change, always reminding us that the struggle to change society and those around us begins with ourselves.
