I was expecting my local polling station to be busy, and thought I might have to queue to cast my vote after battling my way through a mob of screaming YES campaigners. I was therefore extremely surprised to see that there were only two people outside distributing leaflets (1 for YES and the other for NO). Inside was an even greater eye opener, as I was the only one in the polling area, with the exception of 4 officials. I mentioned to one of them that I was expecting the place to be crowded, and she replied that they had also expected that to be the case, but the crowds of voters had not materialised. I fully expected the majority of the Dundee population to vote YES as there seems to be a disproportionate number who are unemployed or living in social housing. Could it perhaps be the case that the YES campaign in Dundee has become so convinced they will win, that the voters have actually not bothered to vote?
