I was going through some of my Dads paperwork this morning and came across something that made me beam...so I though it would be worth sharing with others who would understand his sentiment :-) A poem written by Dad on his 80th birthday in 2003: Today, dear Lord, Im 80, but one thing I havent done, I havent scored a TEN yet....can I stay till Im 81? Try, try, try again is the thing that I must do, So, please, dear Lord, can I just stay till Im 82? Many things Id like to do and things Id like to see, A TROPHY on my mantle-shelf, before Im 83. If by then my work has failed to reach that magic score, Would it be asking too much to live till Im 84? Time is getting short dear Lord; well have to play my hunch, SACK the judges, one and all and get a Brand New Bunch! He died on 19th October 2014, at the age of 91 and on the shelf in his study stood the Oldham PS Centenary Goblet for the Best Landscape 2014 (his first trophy, I believe). Well done Dad - you got there in the end :-)
