I was going to 100% keep my thoughts to myself... However I feel - TopicsExpress

I was going to 100% keep my thoughts to myself... However I feel like putting my 4 cents in after all the ridiculousness I have been hearing/reading. These are my experiences/ my thoughts. If you dont want to read them then dont. But here goes.... I grew up as the daughter of a police officer, every day he would leave his family to keep our community safe. We were scared he would be hurt. He would arrest people that would threaten his family, his children. He was put in the hospital, hit by a train, hit in the face with a chain, etc. he every day would get up, go to work, to serve and protect. He never asked for praise, didnt make tons of money, missed Christmases, ball games, dance recitals. I have grown up and now have friends who are police officers, my brother in law is a police officer, and I watch them do the same. They put their lives on the line for our safety every day. If a police officer tells you to stop... STOP. You wont get shot. If you dont want to have a police officer come after you..... Dont rob/steal. You wont get shot. If you cant live with integrity and respect for authority and yourself, you will probably find yourself in trouble with the law. Where is the accountability for the young man who did, In deed, break the law??!! Who clearly did not stop when was instructed by the police officer. A life is a life, and no life is more important than another. I urge you all to remember, these men and women do a job that not everyone can do. They see death, destruction, the worst of the worst. And yet, they often get the littlest of respect. It makes me sick and sad. We live in a society where its always someone elses fault. Pity party, feel bad for me. Its time to stand up, to be responsible, be respectful, be someone others want to look up to, love and respect yourself. Change starts within ourselves. Again, these are my thoughts, which I am entitled too. I feel strongly about this because I have a personal connection, personal experience and feelings. I urge you to think about our brothers and sisters in uniform. I urge you to thank them. I urge you to teach your children to respect them. I urge you to think before judging them. Could you do it? Could you make that possible life/ death decision in a split second? Could you live with yourself knowing you ended a life, even if it is what all your training prepared you for? Could you? I couldnt.
