I was going to let the docs at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in - TopicsExpress

I was going to let the docs at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis perform the necessary surgery. The physician that the VA selected to do the surgery was unable to articulate the details of the surgery to me in a clear and understandable manner. I have always had an ear for languages. I am fluent in German, speak a little Spanish and as a ham radio operator have learned to exchange basic information, greetings and pleasantries in a dozen more languages, so I am used to dealing with people for whom English is a second language. However, this particular VA physician’s lack of English fluency forced me to seek medical care outside the VA system. Now I must pay out of my own pocket for surgery that is otherwise coverable by the VA as a service connected condition because the VA employs immigrants who can’t communicate in English! It is the responsibility of the VA to ensure that immigrant physicians can and do communicate clearly with their patients. oneoldvet/?p=66323
