I was just thinking back to a few years ago... Bean was driving me crazy, seriously! The four hour meltdowns before school. I had to do everything to get clothes on her. Our house looked like a tornado went through it by the time she was done getting dressed. Then to brush her teeth.... I had to get up at 5 am to get it done in time for school and we were still late daily. Getting up and dealing with it every single day when I just went to bed at 2 am or if at all. My God it was so exhausting. I didnt know any other kid in the universe having these challenges. Most days she went to school kicking and screaming and wearing a costume. Thats right, a costume! At least she was wearing clothes and not naked was how I thought about that! I learned quickly to choose my battles wisely. I thought I was the only mom in the universe who had a kiddo who did this! Next month will be three years since I went to therapy with Bean and thankfully the therapist told me about Sensory Processing Disorder. Oh wow... I couldnt believe it when I read about SPD how perfect it matched her! Everything about her behaviors were SPD and here I was thinking she was acting that way on purpose and having tantrums all day long for nothing. Today... she still very much has SPD and clearly she always will BUT she doesnt have any of the challenges like she used too. I guess the point to all of this is... it does get so much better!! It really does. I know right now thats hard to see, I wouldnt have believed you if you told me that three years ago. Today is tough but tomorrow its going to get easier. You got this!!!
