I was nominated for the ice bucket challenge but due to the most severe draught in history in California, I find it extremely wasteful to do. Instead, Ive donated $10 and Im nominating 19 people to donate $10 and not do the ice bucket challenge then to challenge others to DONATE and share one fact about this horrible, devastating disease. If everyone I nominate donates $10 and shares one fact, we together will have raised $200, spread not only awareness of the disease, but helped people LEARN what it actually is and does. I encourage those of you who I nominate to continue this challenge now! $10 doesnt seem like a lot to contribute but the more people we get to donate a little, the more people we are able to ultimately help! Im not going to hold you to it, but after youve donated you should also post your fact here to share with everyone else :). My fact :Most people with ALS die of respiratory failure within 3 to 5 years of the onset of symptoms, though about 10 percent of sufferers live for 10 or more years. Theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking, who was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease related to ALS, has survived 50 years since his diagnosis.
