I was nominated to do the count my blessings 5 day challenge by my awesome friend Margaret who I dont see nearly often enough. Ill be honest and say I really didnt intend to do it even though I enjoy reading everyone elses but recent events have once again reminded me of how quickly things change and how important it is to be aware of how fortunate we are. Ensuring that the people we love and appreciate know it ALL the time, not just when it comes to our mind and enjoying this very moment because it could be the last are of the utmost importance. I know part of the challenge is to nominate others to do the same but I wont be doing that.. Ill just say that as you read mine... remember to count yours. 1. Im getting married in 39 days... I could go on and on about how wonderful my soon to be husband is.. gush about how awesome he is, what a wonderful father he is, and how hed literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need but most people know that and those arent really my blessings.. those are everyone he comes in contact with and his. My blessings are that he calms the chaos in my soul, he makes me happy and he keeps me warm... he makes me a better person and honestly I think thats everything. 2. My son. Im listening to him right now play his guitar and sing because hes super excited about the Orioles and Nats winning their divisions... hes been a baseball fan since he was very young and some of my fondest memories are taking him to Camden Yards to watch games along with almost monthly trips in to DC because hes always been obsessed with the history of presidents... in particularly Jefferson and Lincoln. We spent hours at the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials more than once. He was reciting the Gettysburg Address before he was going to school. Hes always been such a unique soul with such warmth and kindness. He has such amazing confidence and to know him is truly to love him. He is the epitome of awesome! 3. My daughter. Shes simply amazing... faced with extreme challenges from the moment she entered this world shes battled tremendous odds with such beauty, grace and strength. Her sweet smile and happy squealing make my heart melt. There arent adequate words to describe her.... shes just miraculous. So 1 day down and 4 to go.... my blessings are plenty. Lucky me!
