I was reading a German article about pros and cons regarding little childred and learning foreign languages and I became melancholic. I remembered those 8 years when I was colleague with my father:) We were at the same highschool.. I a pupil and he, a teacher of English. Thank God he wasnt mine:))))! But during those 8 years, whenever both of us started the classes at 8 oclock, we used to go together to school. And our conversations were of course in English. I remember those days when I was learning Direct/ Indirect speech, the sequences of tenses.. Nice memories! Not such nice memories about the days when my colleagues, except me, skipped classes :))) I wasnt allowed to do that.. When I first enter that highschool , as a pupil mean, my father made me and his colleagues very clear, I was there to learn and not to receive special attention/ favours. Well, His whishes were sooo, but sooo fullfield.. Especially during my secondary school.. Almost at every class of Romanian, English, French, Maths, Physics and Chemistry I received at least one question in order to be clear if I had prepared myself.. The motto in my family was you wish to be a doctor(I was dreaming about this since I was4-5 years old), you have to study very hard.. I remember my first 4 at Mathematics. 6th Grade. My family wanted not only 10, but 4 was out of their wishing list:) so, that day I finished the classes at the same time as my father, we went home together, but I didnt say anything about my great achievment. On the way back home my father told me that he was in the mood of a cake. We went to have a cake together, he ordered my favourite one, but.. On the moment I was about to start eating, he looked at me and said: Congratulation, Alice, this is why I brought you to the same highschool I work. To to embarrass me.. Well, at that moment I was ashamed of myself, I would have preffered a slap ( which I never received my whole childhood). It was such a good lesson given by my father.. I think this is the key point. How parents educate their children. When the child is not obliged to do something ( learning foreign languages, as an example), but he is stimulated with jokes , drawings, songs, when he is taught that he wouldnt be beatet when makes a mistake, the children can have a wonderful childhood and at the same time learn so many wonderful and useful things.. The parents must be friends of their children, they shouldnt at any point of life try to dominate their children. This is just my opinion.
