I was reading about Peter and Andrew, James and John. How they left everything and just followed Jesus. Everything meaning, their families, lifestyles.. Just obediently followed. I asked myself if a man were to come to me while I was working and said follow me. Would I? That would involve change. Leaving behind something comfortable. Something I am so accustomed to. Going to unknown territory. And we humans are creatures of habit. We are not accustomed to change. So resistant to change. I reflected about how I am so used to having my way. Change would bring about new habits, commitments, responsibilities, a more loving way with others. It is tiring when I think of it. And how often I cling to my old habits, which do not serve me if I stare hard and honestly in my life and the results I yield with the people around me. I was ashamed, I long for the courage and faith to just follow God, just like Peter, Andrew, James and John, they dared to make changes in their lives, they didnt depend on their own strength but fixated their eyes on Jesus and followed him! I know God seeks for our personal growth and he sees the potential in us that we may not be able to see at this moment. With this knowing, I am humbled, I feel safe, I am able to make the change. I know even if I fall, HE is there to catch me and he props me up each time I fall. He renews my faith and strength so I may continue this journey. My friends, I pray that all of us follow the footsteps of Andrew, Peter, James and John to make way for God to lead our lives, to be obedient and with full faith, follow him. He will lead us to the Kingdom of God. Praise be to God forever and ever.. Amen!
