I was stood up last night. It was a first time date, so we set a time for a drink at a pub downtown and he didnt show. Now that is a pretty crappy thing for someone to do. It kind of set me back a bit, took the wind out of my normally confident sails for a moment, and made me think that some humans do pretty crappy things. See, I have this undying sense of optimism about people that is confirmed most of the time because people respond to how you treat them. Generally speaking, in my experience, if you treat others kindly, they will do the same in return. Then, some little thing like this happens, and it kind of shakes up my faith. Mais voilà. In the end, I come back to the understanding that how others behave is not a reflection of ourselves, but simply of where they are at in their own lives. Not everything has to be about us. How we behave belongs to us, and, ultimately, that is all we are responsible for. Its a lesson well learned.
