I was thrilled to have won the Semi-Finals Last Night! I sang AND IM TELLING YOU from DREAMGIRLS, and I was seriously blown away by the audience response and the judges comments afterwards. I mean that! Tho I was very honored and humbled for the win, there was some amazing talent that gave 100 of their all, I was sad that Jason didnt place when I felt like he actually PERFORMED better than me and was more unique. I TRULY thought he would have beaten me!! So it was kind of a bittersweet victory. But then I realized, not everyone loves sushi, tho many eat it! If I cooked a delicious prime rib to perfection, but went to a pot-luck for vegans.. it wouldnt be appreciated. NOT THAT THE PRIME RIB WAS BAD OR THE VEGANS WERE WRONG, its just that in terms of talent, some performances fit what an audience (or judges) like better. Its not necessarily that someone is more or less talented than someone else.. People have favorites of what they like.. and that is often how they gauge a talent show. When the skill levels are high amongst competitors.. then it becomes a case of what someone likes best! Jason was totally original and unique. He sang GREAT and he looked awesome... He hit a home-run in terms of what I would have deemed a winning performance!! Despite doing everything flawless.. if what he did didnt fit the audience as well.. and if thats what they were looking for... that will affect the outcome! And thats a lesson all of us performers have had to deal with at one time or another!!!!!
