I wasnt planning on leaving the boat today. It is grey, gloomy, windy and cold, but my dog was bored. So, off we go on a short drive. As I come to the end of the narrow winding road that leads to the marina, I see a young teenage girl running full speed up the four lane highway. Obviously, she was running with purpose and about 100 yards ahead of her is a little puppy steadily getting away. After a moment of pondering about minding my own business, I went left instead of right. I put on my flashers and got ahead of the puppy and pulled of at an angle blocking one lane of traffic and the right of way. I got out and the puppy had stopped. I noted it was not a puppy but a full grown dog, just quite small. I did the baby talk thing and approached it slowly and it stretched out to smell my hand . Thankfully, it smelled my dogs scent and relaxed and I was able to pick it up. I met the little girl halfway and handed off the little dog. She thanked me and I returned to my truck and got turned back around. Only because of the current climate in our country do I mention that the little dog is white and the little girl is black. Color did not enter into my actions. Wish all things could be so simple.
