I went to a party this evening to celebrate the fortieth - TopicsExpress

I went to a party this evening to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of a Nigerian priests ordination and the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of the charitable organisation which he started. This charity provides education for the poorest of poor children in Nigeria in the hope of stopping the cycle of grinding poverty. A supporter of the organisation since the very early days, showed us some of his pictures he took when he stayed at the school. Fr. also showed some pictures of the start of his ministry there amongst people who lived in total squalor and poverty. He showed us a photo of his meals on wheels program...an elderly bicycle with plastic bags of food hanging from it. The program has grown and flourished.. one can only pray that it stays out of the grasp of the brigands...lately known for their kidnapping and mistreatment of two hundred girls. From a picture of what appeared to be a couple of old rugs nailed to a fence.. home to a widow and her five children (Father raised the money to put a roof on it to shelter them from the rain.) we cannot really appreciate the hardships of the people. It is appalling to note that the President, who sits amongst the total corruption and criminality of the country, (when he isnt visiting the five star capitals of the world on a jaunt), has a personal fortune of $1.845,652 US Dollars. I have not made public the names... those of you who know me will know those of whom I speak.
