I worry about all the kids on FB. I dont know if its cool for them to be on here or not . If so that poses its own set of problems. School and trends, and peer pressure puts a lot on kids. It did when all of us were in school. But you know, I could escape that when I went home. Nobody there was more popular than me. The kid across the table from me was just as poor as I was. Nobody at home was loved more than me . Home time was a time I could fit in and be accepted for just who I was . It was at least some freedom from all that pressure to have and be like others really thought it should be. The majority of kids dont have that anymore. If they even sit together at the table everybody is staring at their phones. None of them are my kids so its none of my business. I just cant imagine the pressure, because you dont get a hundred likes for where you didnt get to go or get to do. Nobody post fifty comments about the new outfit you didnt post pictures of. Im afraid were losing a generation that have no idea what their own identity is because they are inundated with a standard set that they can never achieve. And a belief that they are failing because they never have time to find their own way because they are following the lead of someone they can never be and trying to reach a plateau that is not their own. Im just thankful I had a place and time to be free to be me until I absolutely learned being me is want I needed all along. I hope these kids today can find that place and peace as well.
