I would like to clear up a few misconceptions: 1. Not everyone - TopicsExpress

I would like to clear up a few misconceptions: 1. Not everyone who is protesting tomorrow is against APD. 2. This is about bettering our community. If you can, please take a moment to read the description below. I created this event page and I will stand by my position. I too know many great officers, one in particular with a heart of gold, and I am very grateful for their service. I only can hope that we will come together as a community and make things better for EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!! The following is the description for the protest: SUNDAY March 30th, 2014 12:00pm Event begins at 1st and Central and then will march to APDHQ. Volunteers are asked to be there at 11:30-11:45, in white t-shirts to help remind people to stay on public property. (White for two main reasons; one, to stay cool and calm, and two, to symbolize peace and innocence, not surrender as some have suggested) Please be PEACEFUL!!! Remember to remain on PUBLIC properties. We cannot obstruct traffic. The point is to show that we want change and the best way to do so is to be the change we want to see. Stand up for justice!!!!!! Alright Albuquerque Enough is Enough. Im calling out the entire city!!!!!!! Please share as much as possible. Lets make a real difference and organize a sit in on APDs door this weekend. I hope to we can come together as a city and show what we are made of. Peaceful Protest!!!!!!!!!! I can be reached at cvarrietta@gmail or here on facebook. APD has been in the news of late far too often for officer involved shootings. This has to stop. There has to be a change in how APD responds, how the citizens of ABQ behave and how they are treated by the officers WE NEED. I cant help but to feel as though we are failing as a society. When people feel as though there is no other option but to resort to violence we have failed as a society. The fact that we have to have police officers fear for their lives while on the job, and citizens who feel unsafe in their own home is proof enough we are not doing enough to create a better world. We are all responsible for what is happening. Placing blame and pointing fingers will get us nowhere. We have to change our culture, our values, norms, and ourselves if we have any hope of turning the tide on a rising wave of unnecessary deaths. There is not one party to blame, we all have a slice of guilty pie to swallow. Complacency is equally contributory. My hope in organizing this event is to change the way APD handles situations here in Albuquerque. We have to come together as a community and solve our problems. We deserve to feel safe. And when I say we, I mean EVERYONE; very single citizen, every visitor, and every APD officer. We need to be able to trust the people who have devoted their lives to serving our beautiful city. I love ABQ with all of my heart and am deeply saddened by the persona that is being portrayed of our lovely city. This has to end NOW!!!! I hope that we as a community can work together with APD and find real solutions, real change, and in result make a new relationship between our men and women in uniform and the citizens of Albuquerque. We need police officers we feel good about paying for and they need to feel as though they are not going to be harassed every single day that they go to work. The fact is we need to have a police force that harbors a positive relationship. And we need citizens to be equally involved in creating that relationship. Wouldnt it be nice to know that when you see an officer out on OUR streets, that they are there to help and not feel negatively about them? Wouldnt it be nice to be able to call them when you really need them and they treat you with respect and are kind? IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO CHANGE THIS HORRIBLE TREND!!! Please help make our city an even better place to live and work.
