I would like to tell you a wee story….not long ago we were lucky enough to talk to a woman by the name of Cath Jamison who met us at Harba to talk about her IN TWO MINDS show. She is a highly acclaimed magician and mind-reader. Being the sceptical bunch that we are, we all set before her, big grins on our wee faces and gave her the floor. The first thing muttered from my gaping mouth was “Oh…my….god, how did she DO THAT!” In awe and amazement we sat there, perched on the edges of our chairs as she ran through a couple of card tricks; an elegance and ease in her movements. My mind was already made up…she was booked! But there was more, and when I say more….WOW!! She then politely asked to use my writing pad. I willingly gave it to her and she flicked to a fresh page and pointed to Lyn (names have not been changed to protect the innocent). “May I have your name please” Cath asked. “Lyn….bring it ON!” she said, her face suddenly serious. Cath began scratching on the note pad constantly eye-balling Lyn. “Look into my eyes” Cath demanded and struck out her arm toward her, waving her fingers as if to send her into a trance. “Now give me a two digit number…the first one you think of” Cath demanded. Willing to play the game and always up to no good Lyn barked back “ten!”, and air of mischief and wonder in her voice. Cath proceeded to turn the page over and written clearly across the page was: “Lyn will say 10”. I squealed, while Lyn gave her the sacred women’s nod of approval. I glanced at John and smiled…we knew we had to have her at Harba! Cath then scratched on the pad again and pointed toward Corin, waving her fingers and demanding he look deep into her eyes “give me a two digit number Corin”? He hesitated, stunned! He smirked and said in a confident voice “15”. Aaahhhh, the room was electric! I shuffled in my chair looking at Cath, then Corin, then Cath, then Corin again….Aaaahhh, someone speak! She then revealed the page where she had written: Corin will defiantly 15” (pic attached). My second squeal for the day erupted from my mouth and I stood clapping and embarrassingly did a little jump. “Do ME, do ME” I cried (words I don’t mutter that often!) Cath smiled and gave me back my writing pad. “Next time, I promise” she said as she took a bow. Aaaahhh WOW!!!! Needless to say, Cath will be performing in the Sunset Lounge on Friday the 20th of June. Cath will also be joining us for a 5 min segment during Comedy Night courtesy of Comedy Overboard on June 18th. Tickets are on sale now for only $15…now how do I go about becoming her trusty assistant…hmmm…..Mish xx
