I would like to thank Michael Howe for his ALS nomination. But before I continue... What is ALS? Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. It is great to get behind an important cause. I would also like to use this opportunity to create real awareness, so because I have spent the majority of this week sick with the flu, and I dont believe in wasting water or joining social media trends (see neknomination). I am going to skip my ice bucket challenge and take to the consequences if you want to call them that, but rather of my own free will I am going to donate to BOTH Oxfam (https://oxfam.org.au/donate/) and ALS this week. #CreateRealAwareness #ALS alsa.org/donate/ Water is the most important natural component that we have today. It makes up our world, our bodies, it has the ability to destroy, and create. It is the healing component.
