I wrote the following comment on a friends page after 1 of her friends (a small business person) had decried the last Labor Governments economic & employment performance with the usual misinformation obviously picked up from the Main Stream Medias lies Jessica, you are very misinformed about job losses! While the rest of the world was experiencing nearly double digit unemployment during the GFC, something you yourself have said is a problem, Australia had much lower rates & since the Libs have come into power the unemployment rate has climbed AND we are bleeding jobs at an alarming rate! We are about to lose our vehicle manufacturing industry putting tens of thousands of Aussies onto the unemployment queues & costing our country a $4 BILLION hit to our GDP & we will have to buy those $4 Billion worth of vehicles from overseas now GRR I imagine you read the Main Stream Media, which has been sooooo biased in its misreporting & lies. Heres another way of looking at small business for you to consider; Give MORE to low income earners, workers or otherwise, & they spend their money locally, giving local small businesses more income & therefore employing more people, bringing more income into the local region. Give the elitist wealthy more money & they hoard it in banks & spend it overseas, giving foreign businesses more income & more employment overseas. I say, tax the wealthy more, get rid of subsidies for the wealthy mining companies, (Gina is only paying 3% tax on her profits with the subsidies & write-offs she gets, which I imagine is WAY less than you pay in tax rate!) stop giving bailouts to the banks who have ALWAYS made bigger profits every year, even throughout the entire GFC when everyone else had to tighten their belts, they made record profits & didnt have to pay back the bailouts (AND the bastards gave the directors bigger bonuses each year during that time OMG!!!) And for your information, Labor kept Aussies in jobs by investing in employment programs during the GFC which kept Australia from following all those other conservative governments whose countries experienced the highest unemployment rates since the Great Depression of the 1930s AND on the day before Good Friday last year Australia under the Labor Government earned its first ever Triple A Rating with ALL 3 Global Ratings Agencies (something the Libs have NEVER achieved) AND we have the 3rd LOWEST debt to GDP ratio in the World!! ..... Both facts you appear completely oblivious to???? .... Probably because NONE of this appeared in the Main Stream Media which is led by Rupert Murdoch with his 70% ownership of the print media in Australia, thanks to John Howard GRR (Why do you think Gina Rinehart bought huge amounts of Fairfax, the other media monopoly in Australian print media?) Rupert Murdoch did not want a high speed broadband as per the Labor NBN as it would have meant easy fast downloads of film & television shows & kicked his Foxtel profits bigtime so he has been leading the media with the lies our country had too much debt ... A Bald Faced Lie - Australias debt is the 3rd LOWEST in the WORLD!!! AND our economy is in such desperate straits it needed a change of government to fix it ... Another Bald Faced Lie - Australia is 1 of ONLY 8 countries to have a Triple A Rating with all 3 global ratings agencies!!! Our debt, our economy AND our unemployment rate are the envy of the rest of the world & the rest of the world cannot understand how Aussies dont know this! Its simple the Murdoch led Main Stream Media lied to the entire population & got away with it & we the people of Australia ended up with the government we have & are losing jobs, lowering the standards of living for the lower & middle classes & giving the wealthy more ways to accumulate & hoard the wealth of our nation in the fewest possible hands. If you want to get your facts right, stop reading the Main Stream Media, they are owned & operated by self-interested individuals who do not give a rats toss for the ordinary Aussie in the street! Murdoch isnt even an Aussie, but an American media mogul known to manipulate elections in Australia, the USA & the UK. Its sad that so many believe (wrongly) as you do
