I wrote this sometime back, thought of sharing it again:- I am inspired, intimidated and intrigued by unconventional beauty. It is so sad when the most beautiful girls feel they are ugly because they are unconventionally beautiful. Honey, you are not that stereotypical hot girl, but you are beautiful. I am not consoling any girl but I believe that beauty comes from within and if you are not beautiful there, then you are never going to be beautiful on the outside, no matter what you do. Your true smile looks far much beautiful than a forehead that won’t move and your talents shine far brighter than a skin peel. Just be comfortable in your own skin; you don’t have to fake an accent, you don’t have to change the way you look so that somebody can love you! One day somebody will love you because you dance to the beat of your own drum. One day somebody will love you because you know respect but you are not afraid to hold a debate about social responsibility, morals, music, art and other global issues. One day somebody will love you because of your size, the freckles on your skin, the color of your skin, the shape of your body, your humor, your reasoning, your daydreaming, your dreams and the fact that you take what life has to offer…somebody will love you for you for being YOU! Maybe you are a young mother and you think you are not beautiful but the fact that you are dedicated to bringing up a new soul, your grace, humility and patience depict the real beauty inside you and that real beauty will never fade, it will evolve everyday through your baby. Beauty is not found in tubes, bottles, jars, plastic surgery, skin lighteners, hip boosts and all those creams and gels. Your tomorrow is not guaranteed, no matter how you look, so why not be exactly who you are, be grateful that you are you and don’t struggle to impress the people around you. Create the kind of life you want to live, Smell the soil when it rains, Listen to the sound of rain, as it falls on your window and concrete, Appreciate the smoke that rises from a mug of hot coffee, Look at the stars, Listen to a cat’s purr, Lie in the grass, Sit in the shower and let the water hit you Buy new clothes and take off the tags Rock an African print skirt, Play a musical instrument, Frame a photo and put it beside your bed, Read a story or a poem, Wake up early to catch the sun-rise, Give compliments, Remember people you haven’t thought about for a long time, Do lipstick; red lipstick Visit places you used to visit, Eat with friends and laugh Love for the sake of love And be YOU!
