IFA Health Seminar’s The Irish FA has developed an exciting and FREE health promotion programme aimed at managers, coaches and players throughout Northern Ireland. Interest is expected t be high so please book early. ‘Check your Heart’ FREE CRY Screening Cardiac Risk in the Young has teamed up with the IFA to provide opportunities for players and coaches (age 14 – 35) to receive FREE heart screening. If you are interested you MUST book on line at c-r-y.org.uk/ni.htm Screening will take place in the Derry area on 23rd & 24th November 2013. IFA Games Development Centre’s The IFA Games development Centre’s will resume as follows: Age group Format Day Commencing Time Venue U.9’s 7 v 7 Monday 9th September 2013 6.45pm – 8pm St Columb’s College (3G Pitch) U.7’s 5 v 5 Tuesday 10th September 2013 7pm – 8.30pm St Columb’s College (3G Pitch) U.11’s 9 v 9 Tuesday 10th September 2013 7pm – 8pm St Columb’s College (Grass Pitch) U.9’s 7 v 7 Monday 9th September 2013 6pm – 7pm Castlederg High School (Synthetic Pitch) Before the centre’s resume meetings will take place for all club coaches/managers to attend. I would urge that all interested clubs attend so they are fully aware of upcoming IFA grassroots programmes. I would appreciate if each club could confirm there attendance at the following meetings. Monday 2nd September 2013 – Shared Future Centre – 7pm – 8pm Thursday 5th September 2013 – Castlederg High School – 7pm – 8pm IFA Coach Education Courses There are now limited places left on the upcoming IFA Level 1 course that takes place on 8th; 15th and 22nd September, at Brooke Park Leisure Centre, Derry. The cost of the course is £220 and this includes child protection awareness, first aid training and Access NI police vetting which are compulsory components of the course to ensure full accreditation. To apply complete and return the application form attached to this circular. An IFA Level 2 ‘C’ Certificate (first part of the UEFA ‘B’ Licence) has been organised for Saturday 12th – 18th October 2013 at Omagh Leisure Centre. The cost for this course is £600 and candidates must have completed the IFA Level 1 in order to apply. For further details contact Stephen Eirskine on serskine@irishfa Small Sided Games Education Workshop There will be a FREE small sided games workshop on Sunday September 1st at Scroggy Road, Limavady from 11am – 2pm. This will be conducted by IFA Coach Education manger Nigel Best and the topic is ‘Making the change from 7v7 to 9v9 and 9v9 to 11v11’. This is open to all coaches so simply come along on the day if you are interested in attending. IFA/McDonalds Community Awards Now in its third year, the annual McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards recognises and thanks the unsung heroes of the grassroots football community in Northern Ireland. Last week Northern Ireland goalkeeping legend Pat Jennings was in Derry ~ Londonderry to launch the awards and I am delighted to announce that Gerry Colhoun from Trojans YFC & the IFA Foyle Games Development Centre has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Peoples Award’. This will be decided by voting through the website. It only takes 5 minutes to register your vote and it is a fantastic opportunity to have a local person recognised nationally. It is hoped the North West will be well represented once again this year as it is to be hosted in Derry ~ Londonderry in November as part of the City of Culture celebrations. By virtue of your club being part of the IFA accredited Foyle Games development Centre clubs can apply for funding for a variety of projects. For more details please go to the McDonalds Kickstart website mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/Sport/Football/Investment/small-grant.html Grant Aid funding is available from Derry City Council for projects that football clubs may be planning. Grants up to £1,000 are scheduled to open on 09/09/13 and closes on 20/09/13. The main grant opens on 29/10/13 at 10am.
