IIT-JEE 2014: 5 smart strategies for serious students ------------------------------ APPROACH TO JEE ------------------------------ You will need to spend around three or four years practicing for JEE if you want to do well. JEE is only for students who have numerical aptitude and their skills and interests are towards engineering. Do not attempt JEE if that is what your parents, family or friends put pressure on you and your Maths is weak. #MUST READ: IIT-JEE 2014: Recommended reference books ------------------------------ STRATEGY FOR SERIOUS STUDENTS ------------------------------ Remember that JEE is more analytical than what you are used to. You need to make sure that you score well for your Class 11 as well as your Class 12 board exams. You need to be mentally prepared. 1. Solve between 60-80 questions from the day you start preparing This number includes all sections - Set realistic targets and plan the next day’s work in advance - If you can do 100 problems, don’t set the target to 150 2. Set a time limit when you attempt questions Speed is important in doing well in JEE. Make sure your score improves with time 3. Solve past year papers for at least 10 years Do this in addition to the 60-80 questions that you have done for each day. - Look for changes in the number of questions from areas and the pattern 4. Find short-cuts You will find shorter ways of solving problems using logic as you solve more problems - Develop a separate technique to handle all three subjects - Spend more time on subjects that you are not that strong in 5. Keep up to date with changes for JEE (Mains) and Advanced It’s important that you keep up to date with any changes. Your board exam is now important for JEE. Only students who are in the top 20 percentile of their boards qualify for JEE (Advanced).
