IMHO, America is an oligarchy masquerading as a democracy and has been for generations. If America were still a constitutional republic then she would be self-restrained and unable to make war around the globe. I am an anarcho-capitalist because I believe that the oligarchy of America has fundamentally altered global politics and culture to the point that no proper constitutional republic could be formed and maintained in this age without the presence of pockets of anarcho-capitalism to keep Liberty alive and act as a rudder to steer free people back towards the light of Liberty when their constitutional republics begin the inevitable drift towards oligarchy. I believe that the frontiers of old provided these pockets of freedom, warts and all, which helped keep our constitutional republic, more or less, on course. The frontiers are now gone so we need to create for ourselves that which geography and lack of high technology maintained for us in the past. We must create those buffers of anarcho-capitalism to keep the potential for individual freedom alive around the globe.
