IMPLICATIONS OF IDEOLOGIES SEEING THE WORLD THROUGH A SINGLE WINDOW As soon as nationalism, ethnicity, and religion believe to be the only true one and therefore fight to circle different beliefs, social conflict becomes inevitable. As nationalism, ethnicity, and religion have the purpose of integrating and uniting-power, at the same time they create their opponents through segregation and exclusion. It is like a natural process. Who segregates and excludes will be at the same time segregated and excluded. There has been no economic relation, which caused the formation of ethnicity, nationalism, and religions. Formations of them are based on doctrines and fixed rules. For instance; if you have been born in Iran it is more likely you would have felt Muslim and Iranian. On the other hand, if you have been born in Ireland you would have felt Catholic and Irish. This example demonstrates that there is no relationship between someone’s social class-consciousness and his/her relationship to economic relation. This is the main reason why these ideologies consist of fixed and unchangeable doctrines and rules. As result of this character, they won’t make any compromise for the sake of societal peace, equality, human rights, and freedoms, even though the objective conditions of life have changed significantly. Therefore, conflict becomes a natural part of such ideologies. In order to make clear the dependable connection between social class-consciousness and societal reality let me give a different example; If you had a poor family you would have been born as poor kid, regardless of where you would have been born. If you had a rich family you would have been born as a rich child. As you can see there is true connection between two situation. Using nationalism, ethnicity, and religious as a political system will always cause conflict, because it will be the denial of different values in continuously changing environment. People, who don’t believe the right of freedom of different values as followers of one of these ideologies, will think and act in form of group and emotionally. All crimes (genocides, assimilation, exclusion) will be executed as act of group. History has got enough examples. Particularly in time of globalization, where differences are forced for coexistence, insisting on one of these ideologies to rule will generate inevitable conflicts. It is enough to experience conflict and unrest in a country like Turkey, (which has got different societal structure with divers ethnic, national, and religious), when a government doesn’t want to recognise the diversity of society and insist on its ideology. The Republic of Turkey had used assimilation, punishment, prohibition, and killing as a consequence of single ideology for creating a single nation -Turkish nationalism-. The AKP has been using the similar pattern by implementing its singly ideology directly/indirectly to create a country with single religion. However, there is no future for any political power, which doesn’t promote political culture for the coexistence of diversity. The reason is because not recognising the existence of diversity will be the denial of current societal reality, which emerged as a consequence of objective (economic, cultural and political) conditions. So any government, which is trying to govern in 21st century (by denying the reality, regardless of where), through ethnic, religious, and national rules /doctrines in the name of democracy and for the democracy is over. I hope I was able to explain the cause of multifaceted violence has been occupying Turkish agenda.
