Trans Mountain completed drilling at the third bore hole on November 27, 2014. Drilling at the fourth bore hole was terminated on November 29, 2014 at a depth of 70m due to the expiration of an injunction limit protesters’ access to the safe work site. Based on the geotechnical information acquired from the bore holes at the entry and exit of a proposed tunnel through Burnaby Mountain, and based on a qualitative examination of the data from the third bore hole that was completed on November 27, 2014, Trans Mountain can confirm that it is feasible to construct a tunnel through Burnaby Mountain for the Westridge Delivery Pipelines. Trans Mountain is incorporating the analysis of the geotechnical information from the remaining bore holes to advance the detailed engineering design and to support the development of contractor bid documents and an effective contract execution strategy.
