*IMPORTANT READ FOR ALL WYATTS WISH FOLLOWERS* QUESTION OF THE DAY: Are donations tax deductible? ANSWER: For those of you who have not been following the updates on our 501(c)3 status, as it stands right now, donations are not tax deductible. There have been two separate paperwork issues we were asked to deal with. The first was in May, as posted, and the second was in June, as posted. This whole process is new to all of us. Dealing with the IRS in conjunction with the State of CA is a long and drawn out process.Weve been told it could take up to a year for our final designation to be authorized. The only reason I wanted to obtain the non-profit status in the first place was so I could send out receipts to all of our donators. We are so grateful for those that have helped us and donated their time, we all feel like its the least we can do to try to pay it forward to you. We take no salaries and, unlike 90% of all charities, we are 100% non-profit. It will stay that way now, and when our paperwork finally makes it through all the hoops required. Now, to address someone who has been stating the use of the word charity to describe Wyatts Wish as a falsification of status, please see the definition of the word charity below: charity[char-i-tee] Spell Syllables noun, plural charities. 1. generous actions or donations to aid the poor, ill, or helpless: to devote ones life to charity. 2. something given to a person or persons in need; alms: She asked for work, not charity. 3. a charitable act or work. 4. a charitable fund, foundation, or institution: He left his estate to a charity. 5. benevolent feeling, especially toward those in need or in disfavor: She looked so poor that we fed her out of charity. 6. leniency in judging others; forbearance: She was inclined to view our selfish behavior with charity. 7. Christian love; agape. Its truly unfortunate someone wishes to sabotage a little boys dream. I keep impeccable records, and anyone who would like to know how much they have donated to date, or where the donations have gone, please feel free to let me know by private message. Im always happy to answer any messages or questions that anyone has, but I need to be clear on one thing. This will be the last time I will entertain someone insinuating that my son is a fraud and my family are thieves. I feel so blessed to have a son that is committed to helping others. We post pictures of him doing so, we post pictures of his supplies and care packages, he has met the SD City Council President, a well respected jounalist wrote an article about him on his 100th delivery/1st anniversary, he has won Regional Recognition from Kohls Cares Scholarship program, and multiple other things that prove Wyatt, this family, and our donators are honest, as well as legitimate. Once again, we thank you for your support and helping us to see a little boys dream come true: Wyatts Wish: Helping the Homeless, One Care Package at a Time. May the individual causing me to write this find peace within themselves and know there are still good people in this world. I hope they learn to love themselves and find help for whatever is causing this struggle within them. We will certainly add them to our prayer list, along with our family, our followers, and the homeless we will continue to help. God Bless you all and I appreciate your time.
