IMPROVING HEALTH CARE RESPONSE TO PREECLAMPSIA A new resource - TopicsExpress

IMPROVING HEALTH CARE RESPONSE TO PREECLAMPSIA A new resource was created to improve the outcomes of pregnant women with hypertensive disorders. Improving Health Care Response to Preeclampsia: A California Toolkit to Transform Maternity Care was developed for health care providers who care for women during the prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods. The Toolkit was created by the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative and was extensively researched and includes peer review and consensus among experts from around the state on best practices for early recognition, diagnosis, treatment and management of preeclampsia. A highlight is the identification of triggers or clinical warning signs that require immediate evaluation and communication with the provider, whether in the prenatal clinic, the emergency room, labor and delivery or postpartum. The Toolkit includes: care guidelines (in checklist, flowchart or table chart formats); a compendium of 18 best practice articles; a slide set for professional education; and education and patient information. The complete Toolkit is available for free download (a brief registration is required). In addition, free informationalwebinars introducing the Toolkit are schedule for January 30th (12-1pm PST) and February 25th (12:15-1:15pm PST).
