INDIVIDUAL PIPING AND DRUMMING The Stone Mountain Highland Games - TopicsExpress

INDIVIDUAL PIPING AND DRUMMING The Stone Mountain Highland Games offers a full slate of individual piping and drumming contests. The events are sanctioned by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) which defines the rules and standards under which individuals compete at several different levels. EUSPBA sanctioning also applies to the judging of the events ensuring judges have appropriate knowledge and training. With EUSPBA sanctioning, competitors not only compete for the prizes of the day but also accumulate points toward year-long association wide championship recognition. Because of the large size of the competitive field at the Stone Mountain Highland Games, our events actually span the entire weekend. In a special indoor event Friday evening, our Professional Pipers compete in both the “light music” and the piobaireachd. Saturday morning features the Amateur Grades 1 thru 3 piping events as well as all of the individual drumming events. Sunday morning is a time for the novice Grade 4 individual pipers. All individual grades will compete in multiple events featuring both “light music” and piobaireachd. There will be approximately 100 individual solo pipers and drummers at the Games this year.
