INVITATION TO TENDER REHABILITATION AND CONSTRUCTION WORKS OF BAHARINI AND MKUNUMBI WATER PANS IN MPEKETONI, LAMU COUNTY. 1. Background Information The MECOBY GROUP is a non-partisan community organisation formed in 2006 with an aim of conserving the environment and creating HIV/AIDS awareness in its area of operation. The organisation operates in the whole of Mpeketoni area and is currently extending its activities to the whole of Lamu County. Environmental conservation is the basic foundation of the organisation. 2. Mpeketoni Environmental Conservation Initiatives for Sustainable Livelihoods Project. MECOBY GROUP has been funded by European Union (EU) through the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) to implement a three-year project “Mpeketoni Environmental Conservation Initiatives for Sustainable Livelihoods” with the overall aim 0f supporting community projects aimed at poverty reduction through improved livelihood systems and the conservation of community natural resources and initiatives for enhanced environmental management and governance. The two water projects are aimed at mitigating the negative impacts of drought and enhancing water accessibility for the surrounding communities. 3. The Scope Of Work MECOBY Group invites sealed tenders for construction and rehabilitation works for the following in Mpeketoni, Lamu County: 01. Construction of Baharini water pan, Baharini Location-Mpeketoni 02. Expansion and Rehabilitation of Mkunumbi water pan, Mkunumbi Location-Mpeketoni N/B: The interested contractors can only tender and win one site of the above set of works. The works are expected to run simultaneously and be completed within three (3 months after the award. 4. Tender Requirements Interested contractors are requested to collect copies of design drawings, tender documents with blank BoQs in hard and soft copies respective at a non refundable fee of Ksh 3000 (Three thousand shillings only) per set of document in cash or its equivalent in a freely-convertible currency for each set of document from MECOBY group’s offices at Mpeketoni Complex building, Mpeketoni town, Lamu County. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address. The contractors should attach the following documents with their quotations: VAT certificates, PIN certificate, certificate of incorporation, Tax compliance certificate and company profiles(adequate equipment and key personnel for the specified types of works) indicating the past experience, proof of sound financial standing and Registration certificate (Ministry of Public works or the Ministry of Water). The completed expression of interest documents must be delivered to the address below or deposited in the Tender Box situated at the reception of MECOBY Group office, Mpeketoni complex, to be received on or before 10th September 2013 at 1200 hours.
