IVY TECH RAISING TUITION BY 8 PERCENT Tuition to Ivy Tech - TopicsExpress

IVY TECH RAISING TUITION BY 8 PERCENT Tuition to Ivy Tech Community College is going up as the school faces a financial crunch. The Ivy Tech trustees voted Thursday to raise the cost of tuition by $5 each credit hour for each semester over the next two years. The cost of $111 per credit hour this past school year will rise to $116 in the fall. It will equate to an eight percent increase each year. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education had recommended an increase of only two percent for Ivy Tech. For the fourth straight year, Ivy Tech will freeze tuition at $111.15 per credit hour for the GI Bill, members of the Indiana National Guard, Hoosier veterans, Indiana members of the federal military reserve, and Indiana state government employees. Leaders of the community college say the eight percent tuition increase will help cover a growing $68 million budget deficit. They are also considering closing 20 of Ivy Tech’s 72 campus locations across the state.
