Ice Bucket Challenge raises $100.9m. The worldwide ALS Ice Bucket Challenge which saw a host of celebrities and personalities take part has raised the sum of $100.9 million (N16.3B) in donations. A statement from the ALS Association website confirmed the increase of financial support in the awareness. ‘As of Friday, August 29th, The ALS Association’s national office and its 38 chapters have received a combined $100.9 million in donations compared to $2.8 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 29).’ The association also confirmed over 2.2 million new donors also took part in the fundraiser ‘These donations have come from existing donors and over 2.2 million new donors.’ The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge involved people getting a bucket of ice water dumped on their head to promote awareness of the disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations for research.
