Id like to echo all of the thanks being posted today to those who have served in our nations Armed Forces, Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard. As a Viet-Nam era veteran and Air Force retiree, Im proud that those who are currently serving, putting themselves in harms way, and in many cases offering the ultimate sacrifice are well taken care of and appreciated. Even those of the Greatest Generation were honored and cared for upon their return. For those who served in the Korean Conflict and then in the Viet-Nam war, however, the situation was completely different. There was no honor, but shame, no thank-you, but insults and horribly offensive slurs. So today, if you know a Korean War/Viet-Nam vet, please give them a VERY SPECIAL, if belated, thank-you. I consider it the greatest honor of my 20 years of service to have known and worked alongside Chief Fred Cartwright, Lt. Col. Cherie White, Col. Paul Mootz, Chief Bill Dunlap, Lt. Col. Art Meyers among others and to have known of their service in-country. I truly love and respect you all, and will be eternally grateful for all you did for our country, and for me personally.
