Id-ul-Zuha also known as Eid al-Adha, the Feast of the Sacrifice is one of the important festivals of the Muslims which honors the willingness of Ibrāhīm (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismā’īl (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a sheep to sacrifice instead. The word “id” derived from the Arabic“eid” means “festival” and “zuha” comes from “uzhaiyya”which translates to “sacrifice”. Id-ul-Zuha is celebrated on the 10th day of the 12th month, Dhu a-Hijjah.
