If I behold how the SA church responds to our freedom, it is very disheartening. They dont celebrate one day with us. You can check it out; Freedom Day, and so on, is largely ignored by the church. She looks very confused, and I guess, she should be, because she was not geared to function in a just society. Or maybe she is embarrassed because she has not followed the word but the politics of her day, has prescribed to her how to be the church. Now its funny that she should claim to be the Body of Christ if she has not followed the Head during apartheid. Neither has she restructured herself afterwards. Arrogantly she moves on, expecting the previously oppressed to join her and shut up, as if she was right all the time. I guess there is no need to spell out the danger that a confused religious sector pose currently. Because it leaves an opening for other forces to influence the morality of our freedom. Thus to enable our church to play a meaningful role; truly be salt and light in the new South Africa, it needs to be spoon-fed a new understanding of scripture from scratch. And to facilitate that, we have to destroy the remaining reminders of the past in the character of the South African church completely, so that it cannot interfere, as we seek to build a new altar for God in the nation. I have discovered that the phrase ‘in Christ’ so often used by Paul, in his writings; suggests a very different kind of Christianity, than what I had hitherto experienced. Gal 3v26-28 clearly foresees a race-less, non-gender driven and classless church. it is an indictment against the South African racially built church when it says: There is no Greek or Jew, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ. God bless
