If anyone is interested in listening to Great Lakes folk music and/or exposing their kids to the music and history of the Great Lakes, we highly recommend the Great Lakes Folk festival hosted by MSU Museum in downtown East Lansing.. We spent the day Saturday listening to different styles of folk music ranging from folk music from Quebec to folk music from Finland(the guy was from Ishpeming in the U.P.), and old time folk music from a young couple from Kalamazoo. The festival is absolutely free.....it continues to function totally on donations. They also have a good selection of food booths. We had fun alot of fun munching on a roasted ear of corn while setting outside in a casual setting listening to a variety of folk music. If you like to dance, they have that too!! Hope to see you there next year!!
