If anyone is looking for an extra car, or one for that new teen driver, the Veggie Hoopty is officially for sale. 1982 Mercedes 240/300 diesel 4 door. Crank windows, sunroof, 4 speed manual. I have had the car for approximately 6 years. This is a 240 (4 cylinder) that has been converted to 300 (5 cylinder) motor. Mercedes never imported a 4-speed 300 to the US, so we had to build it ! This car has been run nearly 100% on WVO (waste veggie oil) the entire time we have had the car. Quite a few PCS teens have learned to drive a manual in this car but it is time to thin the fleet. Car runs equally well on veg as well as diesel. I have driven this car on many trips from West Alabama to the Gulf Coast to Jackson. A/C blows cold but needs Freon each spring. Newer tires, newer alternator, newer battery. Starts every time, first start of the week, or 10th time today. Veggie conversion is by Plant Drive (plantdrive.ca) using their VeggieTherm heaters and the VorMax filters. All I can say is that this actually works. Yep, pour filtered, free, used veggie oil in the tank…Drive away…Smell like Taco hut….. Love those fossil fuels? No problem….Use diesel… If you want to run veg I will throw in my barrels, pumps and 6 years of “knowledge”. $2750 with the veggie kit and accessories $2500 back to stock diesel only.
