If one fancied a lunch of ambuyat where does one go? Naturally you make a beeline to the nearest Aminah Arif restaurant. That was exactly what we did, to the new one on Jalan Jerudong. As usual I order the 1 set ambuyat biasa @ $16.00 which came with cacah campur binjai/tempuyak, sambal belacan with ulam, daging urat masak tumis, ikan goreng, sayur pakis. We also ordered a rice for our son plus 1 ABC drink. It came up to only $19.00, which was the usual price. When the order came, it was delivered one item at a time and I noticed the following: The ambuyat, which came last, was so small and only adequate for one person! The cacah was also small and midway we had to ask for a refill! Then the ulam and sambal belacan were not what we had expected. Instead of the traditional ulams of Rancha-rancha, daun pawas, pengaga, pucok gajus and other ulam kampung, only 5pieces of half inch thick slices of old cucumber and old carrots were served! Who wvwe heard of eating ambuyat with old thick slices of carrots as ulam? To to it all, there was not enough ambuyat, cacah, and pakis! Hai Yah! Although the prices had remained the same since my last visit, the quantity have since been reduced to half of the usual! We are not going back to Aminah Arif and suggest readers to think twice before venturing there for ambuyat!
