If people are of the opinion that the federal government should dictate a minimum wage, then it stands to reason that they should want the same federal government to enforce immigration laws. You would think that would be their thought process, but it probably isnt, at least in most cases. Im pretty sure those that are for amnesty are also for a $15 an hour minimum wage. This shows a certain degree of economic illiteracy on their part. If the pool of cheap labor were to dry up due to the enforcement of immigration laws, what would happen to the cost of cheap labor? It would go up. Human labor is a commodity and like all commodities it is subject to the same laws; when the supply is low and the demand is high, the price goes up. When the supply is high and the demand is low, the price goes down. If you want higher wages for the working poor then you should be advocating strong borders and the enforcement of immigration laws. These measures will do more for wage earners on the lower end of the pay scale than any federal mandate.
