If the government can’t take proper care of wounded veterans, - TopicsExpress

If the government can’t take proper care of wounded veterans, can’t it at least take care of those who died 73 years ago?... One of the most moving exhibits at Pearl Harbor is the USS Arizona, an underwater grave for over a thousand sailors and Marines killed when Japanese bombs sank the ship in 1941. Today, there are just nine Arizona crewmen still alive. Both they and their fallen comrades deserve our highest honors. But according to an internal report from the National Park Service, the visitors’ center management isn’t honoring them. The report exposed the selling of tickets that are supposed to be free, and maintenance issues like scuffed walls, bird droppings and shuttered exhibits that languish unrepaired for months. One Iraq War vet claims he quit his park guide job after he was punished for complaining about the desecration of this sacred place. He’s planning a whistleblower lawsuit. Our veterans make the ultimate sacrifice for us. Alive or dead, from the VA to the Park Service, they deserve better.
